Kombinaut
Image Creator
KOMBINAUT was born in 2019 and is neither personalised nor assigned to a gender identity. The name is a neologism of the words Kombinat and Kosmonaut and expresses the joint search for new worlds. KOMBINAUT uses intelligent machine learning models and image processing tools for a unique artistic expression that transports the virtual into the real world.
“There is only one corner of the universe you can be certain of improving, and that's your own self.”
- Aldous Huxley, author of the novel ‘Brave new world’
When KOMBINAUT presented AI-based visual worlds for the first time, acceptance of this new art form was still low. In 2024, KOMBINAUT was able to present the first monothematic exhibition of AI-based images in a classic photo gallery at the F15 Gallery in Bremen with the WUNDERKAMMER 3.0 series.
Wunderkammer 3.0
Cabinets of curiosities with exotic and unknown creatures have always fascinated people. KOMBINAUT initially showed newly discovered species from other worlds in its virtual cabinet of curiosities. In the real world, the images were then presented as one of the first exhibitions of AI-generated images in the F15 Gallery in Bremen and are available as high-quality prints on the KOMBINAUT website.
WOLPERTINGER
The existence of these mythical hybrid creatures could never be credibly proven. In 2023, it was possible to show exemplars of this species for the first time.
BESTIARIUM
They really do exist - the monstrosities that have remained hidden in secret natural history archives for centuries and are now being made available to the public.
AQUANAUTS
The deep sea as a habitat is still little explored. Recently, previously unknown and strange creatures were discovered at over 9,500 meters below sea level.
